Thanks for taking some time to learn about me, as I'm excited to learn more about you as well.
My post-secondary educational background started at Alma College. Go Scots! I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2003, with a major in Elementary Education and minors in English and speech. In 2003, I began teaching 4th grade at Eureka Elementary. During my first few years at Eureka, I completed my master's degree at Central Michigan University and am certified to be reading specialist, K-12. Additionally, I have taken many other classes and attended workshops related to reading, writing and student behavior and engagement, as these are areas for which I am passionate.
I truly believe reading and writing are the foundation of all aspects of learning. My goal is to create lifelong readers, who see reading as part of their daily routine and a choice activity, rather than something they have to do at school but don't enjoy. I believe that student choice leads to motivation and the creation of readers, and look to incorporate choice into my teaching.
I look forward to sharing my love for reading and writing with each and every one of you!
